LOST DATA OR FILES AND NEED HELP

There are many problems that may require you to seek Data Recovery Services. These examples are just some of the most common problems:

Hard Disk Failure
Computer won't boot
Formatted hard drive
Applications that are unable to run or load data
Malicious data loss/employee attack
File saved but cannot be located
Power surges
Hard Drive/Media surface contamination and damage
Hard disk drive component failure
Accidental deletion of data
Virus attack
Corrupt files/data
Operating system upgrades
Hard Drive seen in the BIOS but not recognized in Windows
Accidental reformatting of partitions or hard drive
Fire or water damage to hard drive or media

SEVEN STEPS TO RECOVERING YOUR DATA

1. Stop using the drive immediately.
2. If connected to a network, unplug the network cable.
3. Power off only if your hard drive is grinding or clicking loudly. Otherwise, leave it running.

DATA RECOVERY FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. What is Data Recovery?

Data recovery is the process of retrieving deleted or inaccessible data from failed electronic storage media such as computer hard disk drives, removable media, optical devices and tape cartridges. Your data can become inaccessible due to a hard disk failure, software problem, computer virus, or a malicious human act. Regardless of the cause of your data loss, all is not lost. Most of the time lost data can be recovered by various means.

2. What is the process to have my data recovered?

The data recovery process is split into an evaluation stage and the recovery stage. At the evaluation stage I will diagnose the problem with your system or media and determine how much data can be recovered and how much you will be charge to have the data recovered. Depending on the extent of the damage or loss, the recovery phase may be done quickly at your own site, or it may require an imaging process with the recovery done within a laboratory environment.

3. How long does the data recovery process take?

Again, this depends on the extent of the damage or loss. In many cases I might be able to recover your data or your files in less than an hour at your home or place of business. In more severe cases, it may take several days of very intensive analysis and work.

4. Can ANY data be recovered?

Not always. If the drive arm or head has become dislodged, or if the drive has crashed its head into the platters, data lost will be unrecoverable. If the platters are physically damaged and the magnetized layer is damaged it is extremely difficult to recover any meaningful data. In most other cases at least some, and possible all, data can be recovered.

5. Will my data be secure?

Yes. Your data will be kept private and confidential.

6. Can you recover laptop hard drives?

Yes. Recovering data from a laptop is no different then any other computer.

7. Can you recover data after a virus attack?

Certainly. Data and files on drives damaged by viral or malicious code is still there, often in its original form. It simply needs to be located and extracted.

8. Can RAID arrays be recovered?

Obviously this is a more difficult process and the success rate is much lower than the more conventional storage formats. But yes, it certainly is possible in many situations.

9. What disk drive media or formats can you recover?

Bandwidthco Computer Security can recover files and data from hard disks, floppy disks, RAID systems, disk arrays, Iomega Zip, Iomega Jaz, CDR/CDROM, and DVD.

10. What disk drive manufacturers can you recover data from?

Seagate, Quantum, Maxtor, Western Digital, IBM, Fujitsu, Toshiba, and Conner.

11. What operating systems can you recover data from?

Windows (All Versions), Linux, UNIX, AIX, MAC, Novell Netware, DOS, and OS/2

12. Which interfaces can you recover data from?

IDE/EIDE, SCSI, IEEE1394/Firewire, USB, and PCMCIA.
